Pakistan seems to be advancing in the digital department, slowly but surely becoming more technologically equipped. This was attested to on Friday by Adviser to the PM on Investment and commerce, Abdul Razak Dawood.
Mr. Dawood disclosed that the Information Technology (IT) Sector in Pakistan was responsible for generating a revenue of $3 billion annually. Pakistan has ranked in 9th place for having a 'Digital Booming Economy', the Minister had an online meeting with the delegation from Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) which further encouraged domestic and cross border e-commerce to continue with the same momentum. The Association also enabled IT services in order to expand growth prospects.
With the meeting being productive it appeared to have sowed the seeds for positive development. Enhancements in the IT sector were discussed as well as global competitiveness, with demands both domestic and international demands rising in the market. The Ministry of Commerce will be working closely with P@SHA to focus on IT exports, as Abdul Razak contested, Pakistan 'has a huge competitive edge in terms of a skilled human resource and a strong IT infrastructure,'.
With the direct link and correlation the Information Technology Sector has to exports, we hope to start seeing a better and profitable outcome whilst we appreciate the development progress regarding our powerful resources and infrastructure which can only take us forward.
