On Monday the 14th of December, Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah declared that zoos are abhorrent prisons for animals, with the planned relocation of 2 bears from Islamabad's Marghazar Zoo.

After a hearing held on the 14th of December it was decided that the bears who were suffering at their current residence would be transferred to a sanctuary in Jordan, according to Four Paws representative, Amir Khalil.

Suzie and Bubloo, the bears, are to be relocated on the 17th of December, which has been attested to by a written court order.

"They were imprisoned without having committed a crime. By depriving them of their natural habitat, the human species has interfered with the balance created in nature by the Creator. They were subjected to unimaginable pain and suffering and there was no justification for this cruel treatment other than to entertain the human species."

In a statement issued by the Islamabad Wildlife Department and Four Paws International, it was mentioned that, "The relocation of the two Brown Bears Suzie and Bubloo, kept at Marghazar Zoo, has been approved by all involved parties!"

The good news comes after Kaavan the 'world's loneliest elephant' was transferred to a sanctuary in Cambodia after being a silent sufferer at the zoo.
