Imran Khan: TikTok is Harming Societal Values

Imran Khan has made no secret of wanting to ban the viral social media app, TikTok. The video application is extremely popular in Pakistan, especially during the COVID 19 lockdown, when it gained even more attention. Alas, the application has faced a hefty number of scandals as well, ranging from reportedly 'silly' video challenges which have resulted in the death of young teens and controversies.

Recently, the Premier took to state how the app should be blocked as it is damaging and disrupting society's values. Information Minister, Shibli Faraz, attested to the PM's decision, disclosing how Khan had discussed the matter not just once but on numerous occasions, all concluding to the app getting blocked.

“PM Imran is extremely concerned about the ‘growing obscenity and vulgarity’ in the society and has directed all the relevant sections to check the trend before it destroys the socio-religious values of Pakistani society."

The Premier believes that the vulgarity shown on such apps harm not only social values but cultural ones as well, instructing the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to cleanse the internet of 'obscene' and 'indecent' content, according to a report by The News.
