No matter what people say or believe, Riri’s look was cleverly and originally devised and well suited to the purpose. Think about it, the theme for this years Met Gala was “China: Through the Looking Glass”, and while people are hating on many stars and designers, we think some of the looks were ingenious! As for the nudist movement by JLo, Riri & Kim, all we have to say is that these ladies know how to take their clothes off. After all Met Gala was originally called Costume Institute Gala.
I’d rather be absolutely ridiculous than be absolutely boring.” – Marilyn Monroe
Take a look at the top 10 looks from Met Gala 2015 night(in no particular order) and here is why we loved them:
Two years worth of craftsmanship by Asian Couturier Guo Pei and people call it bad? We can only agree to disagree, the gown was a spectacle to say the least. Riri completed the look with a unique head piece and Christian Louboutin shoes.
We all probably missed the sequined dragon on JLo’s sheer Versace gown, but hey, it’s there and it’s quite brilliant come to think of it! If you’ve got that kind of bod at the age of 45, you’ve probably earned the right to flaunt it!
They call her Queen B for a reason. When she sets foot on the red carpet, heads turn, and that is exactly what happened at the Met Gala night. Yes she bared a lot, so what? Her look served it’s purpose and that’s that. Givenchy gown, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, but wait! Who did her hair? We demand to know, because honestly her mane deserved better.
All the right embellishments in all the right places! The sheer gown by Roberto Cavalli worn by Kim was one of our favorites at the Met Gala and we don’t care if she was a part of the nudist movement.
There is something about the Kardashian-Jenner genes that grabs your attention instantly. A little side peak is all it took Kendall to get people hating on her, regardless, we loved the crystal encrusted gown by Calvin Klein and the Chopard jewelry she used to create a delectable look.
We must admit, the Chinese do it better. Fan’s gold gown and Chinese themed cape designed by Christopher Bu was probably the best interpretation of the event’s theme; China: Through the Looking Glass
Exhibit B: The Chinese do it better. Wendi kept it simple in an Oscar De La Renta gown, Cindy Chao jewelry and Kotur handbag.
A rebel to the core, Cara shunned all principals of red carpet fashion and opted for a black jumpsuit by Stella McCartney. The supermodel spent 11 hours with her favourite tattoo artist Bang Bang to get Chinese inspired ink on her torso.
Rosie was wearing an Atelier Versace gown, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Anita Ko jewelry and the 28 year old model looked statuesque.
The actress wore a feathered hunter green gown by Altuzarro with Ana Khouri earrings and a Solange Azagury-Partridge ring and looked effortlessly stylish.
All in all the Met Gala 2015 was highly fashionable albeit quite nude. What were the looks you loved or hated the most?
