This Eid-ul-Azha will see the release of three much anticipated Pakistani movies, all of which seem pretty impressive so far. Hailing from different genres, all three boast a star cast and it might just be a close call at the box office. While we might have already placed our bets, here’s a quick rundown of what each film has to offer!
Parwaaz Hai Junoon
A stellar cast, gorgeous locations and excellent cinematography has given this one a great pre-release hype. Being a tribute to the Pakistan Air Force, along with a romantic touch, what we’ve seen so far has been pretty interesting albeit predictable.
Looking forward to:
Ahad Raza Mir’s big screen debut
Some genuine patriotic feels
Cinematography and locations
Not looking forward to:
Dramatic monologues by Hamza Ali Abbasi (we get enough of those in real life!)
Unnecessary India bashing
Over the top patriotism
Load Wedding
By the award-winning team behind Na Maloom Afraad and Actor-in-Law, this one is an old school love story between Mehwish Hayat and Fahad Mustafa. While the wedding narrative might be common in films and television, this seems to have some interesting twists and we can always expect originality from the makers.
Looking forward to:
Fahad Mustafa’s interesting character
Genuine comedy
Social relevance to real life
Not looking forward to:
Crass humour

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2
Sequels are a tough one to predict, but so far, this one looks pretty good. With an ensemble cast, Vassay Chaudhry and Ahmed Ali Butt’s witty dialogues, and exotic locations, this could be the grand entertainer one needs for the Eid break. The plot however, seems Bollywood inspired and predictable at best.
Looking forward to:
Fahad Mustafas addition to the ensemble cast. Will he be stealing Humayun Saeed’s thunder?
Laugh out loud moments that the script writers managed the first time around too
Not looking forward to:
Cheap humour
Bad dance moves (*cough* Mawra *cough*)
