Who doesn’t need shows to watch? You also need a back up so if you binge watch, there’s something else in the pipeline! We have not one, not two, but SIX recommendations for you – all of them are of different yet gripping genres! From romance, to life, to crime, here are our top picks:
Made In Heaven
This show portrays today’s India as a potent blend of old and new where tradition jostles with modern aspirations against the backdrop of Big Fat Indian Weddings juxtaposed against the story of the two protagonists, Tara and Karan, who are two wedding planners in Delhi running an agency named Made in Heaven. A story about human nature and greater social dynamics in Delhi which shows what happens behind the scenes of every relationship, including the coming out of those who are shamed for being homosexuals.
Four More Shots Please!
Similar to Sex and the City, this show follows the story of four unapologetically flawed women – two in their 30s and two in their early 20s – as they live, love, make mistakes and discover what really makes them tick through friendship and shots of tequila in millennial Mumbai. It also targets issues of marriage, dealing with sexuality and of course, a story of friendship!
Sacred Games
Based and adapted from a novel with the same name, this is a thrilling, gritty and gripping crime show! A show for everyone, worldwide! The elements are something we are already familiar with – corrupt cops, brutal mafia bosses, intelligence officers working in the shadows, a tick-tock countdown to some catastrophic event et al. What makes this different, is us watching the two timelines – one of the police officer, played by Saif ali khan, and one of the crime lord, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui – unfold and interact as one plot. This is not Bollywood, this is an unapologetic story of Mumbai’s crime scene!
Little Things
Little Things is a web-series about the sweet little moments experienced by a young live-in couple during their everyday life. The general consensus is how realistically it has been shot and portrayed through conversations. This show isn’t the kind which aims to be something for everyone. Its maturity lies in telling the story it is here to tell – a story of judgements faced, relationships, money, and so much more than a tiny summary can tell. We highly recommend this one!
Mirzapur
Indian crime thriller web television series on Amazon Prime Video is primarily shot in Mirzapur, revolves around drugs, guns and lawlessness about an ex carpet selling moghuls son attempting to continue his fathers legacy – no matter what it takes! It depicts the governance and rule of mafia dons and the rivalry and crime prevailing in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi Crime
Delhi Crime is based on the 2012 Delhi gang rape case that took place in the neighbourhood of Munirka, in South Delhi which shook the world. The series is about the aftermath of the gang rape, from the police point of view where they are tasked to find the culprits, responsible for the assaults and death of the female victim and everything that happened on their side. It took a lot of courage to watch this following the BBC documentary, but we liked it!
