Earlier last month, Deepak Perwani showcased a collection which tipped a hat to an ode to the bygone Mughal courts and fabled Shalimar Gardens (which we loved!) with a glimpse of old world embroideries with a modern twist through block and screen printing on luxurious, regal fabrics.

From block prints to shades of peach and red, ‘Shalimar’ was a collection with clothes which looked something straight out of a ‘love is in the air’ fairytale.

The ramp had a show with the models teasing each other lightly and making romantic gestures showing the grooms down on their knees to offer roses to the brides. What we loved most the interactive part of the show where the models handed over long-stemmed pink and red roses to select people in the audience.

We liked that there was something for the men and women both – so as to picture how a couple could design their wedding outfits together. Big note on how the men’s sherwanis were very well-cut, accompanied by shawls glinting with gold embellishments..

Showstopping with Sara Khan and Wahaj Ali on the ramp as the perfect desi fairy tale was the perfect finish to the show!
