The National Threat Initiative Nuclear Security Index reported that due to improved regulations and measures, Pakistan has gone up by 25 points, alluding to major improvements in the Controlled measures and Security categories.
“Pakistan has steadily improved in the Security and Control Measures category over time with the passage of new regulations, improving by eight points in 2014, two in 2016, and six in 2018. Its score in 2014 improved owing to new regulations for on-site physical protection.” - The report noted.
The improvement is a great success, as it also results in a boost for sustainable security and strengthens the laws and regulations necessary to keep it atop its game. Along with going up 7 points in the NTI's Security Index, it has also improved 'Global Norms' category.
Former career diplomat, Laura Kennedy, has tweeted her acknowledgment of the good news, mentioning Pakistan's significant improvement worldwide.
