The United Nations has recruited Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, multi-grammy award winner Beyoncé and multiple other celebrities for a film on global issues.
The United Nations reported that the documentary film aims to spread awareness and tackle issues ranging from gender inequality, to the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. This initiative by the UN sets out the actions needed to construct a better world, and encourage a global response.
"The film will take audiences on a dynamic exploration of the times we live in, the multiple tipping points our planet faces, and the interventions that could transform our world over the next 10 years," said representatives from the United Nations.
The 30-minute film titled “Nations United: Urgent Solutions for Urgent Times”, is set to premier on the UN YouTube channel on September 19th and set for broadcast globally, the UN announced on Monday.
The film will feature UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, and Osacar-winning actress Julia Roberts will host a radio broadcast and podcast version of the show. Moreover, the film features performances from Beyonce and singer Burna Boy. There will also be appearances from education campaigner Malala Yousufzai, UN goodwill ambassadors actor Don Cheadle, actress Michelle Yeoh, along with UNESCO special peace envoy Forest Whitaker.
We hope that this film will encourage individuals to take action and make a difference, beginning from their own homes and branching out into the wider environment.
