The 23 year old Somali-American who has graced the covers of British Vogue, Allure and Vogue Arabia took to Instagram to declare her status when it comes to modelling.
In a series of Instagram stories, the model announced that her career in fashion contradicted her personal views and religious beliefs, disclosing that there have been times where she felt uncomfortable during photoshoots, asked to compromise her boundaries, etc. Also discussing a lack of Muslim women stylists in the industry, Halima's hijab wearing has been a topic of conversation.
"Modesty is the oldest style staple"
Halima received support from members of the fraternity such as the Hadid sisters Gigi and Bella, as well as Rihanna, whom Aden has praised for supporting her wearing a hijab, and has campaigned for with Rihanna's Fenty brand.

The model shared her experience on social media, where she discussed her journey and thought process during the coronavirus pandemic, which gave her time to think and reach the decision she has. Being the first Muslim woman to feature on Sports Illustrated in a hijab and burkini, Halima Aden is famed for prioritising her beliefs and staying true to her view on fashion and modesty.
With her stories shedding light on choices and self reflection, Halima has also shared that she is planning to take a break from social media as well, and focus on what's important.
