With the COVID-19 death toll crossing the 9,000 marks after 105 more deaths being reported, the SAPM, Dr. Sultan, has urged citizens to continue following safety measures and precautions in order to combat the rise of the virus, keeping in mind the vaccines will be available soon.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on the 16th of December, Dr. Sultan emphasised the need to keep following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) despite news of the coronavirus vaccine reaching Pakistan, which is reported to be allegedly distributed in the coming months.
At the post meeting press conference the SAPM discussed the country's strategy to obtain the vaccinations, stating that,
"Pakistan is committed to attaining the vaccine," he said, continuing to say that a national effort was being made to achieve this goal.
Dr. Faisal Sultan also further confirmed that the Federal Government would make sure that the vaccine would be distributed in the country. To handle the current crisis, the SAPM advised people to follow protocol as the rising numbers are causing a burden on the health system.
"We can save precious lives including those of our near and dear ones by taking preventive measures." Dr Faisal said, adding, "COVID-19 is a deadly virus but we can control it just as we did control it by following the SoPs during the first wave."
