Pakistani-born biologist, Asifa Akthat is set to receive Germany's highest scientific accolade for research!

Asifa Akhtar has made history with her achievements in the world of science, and her notable contributions to chromosome regulation. Now, Asifa has become the recipient of Germany's prestigious science award, the 'Leibniz Prize'.

As a Senior Group Leader & Director of the Department of Chromatin Regulation at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics, Asifa Akhtar has made quite the impact with her meticulous research and work with cell mechanisms and understanding the X chromosome regulation process, investing in groundbreaking research which has ultimately won her the accolade.

With only 10 prizes being distributed each year, Asifa Akhtar is one of the few esteemed candidates to be receiving it in 2021. The Vice President of the Ma Planck Society has not only contributed to the field of science but has also managed to earn Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freidburg the title of one of the top tier places for research.

We commend the Pakistani-born scientist who has both won awards for her work and continues to discover mechanisms of epigenetic gene regulation.
