Anxiety comes in many forms at many different moments in our lives, it’s impossible to live an entire life without catching feelings of anxiety.
We may not think about it often but anxiety manifests into our physical body more than we realize, when we are anxious we feel it in our chest or our stomach and in situations such as those it’s helpful to acknowledge that what we are mentally and emotionally feeling is directly connected to our physical being.
That being said we made this short list of things you can try to do to manage your anxiety physically so that your mind can also come to a sense of ease. Without further ado, here is our list for you.
Breathe It Out We’re sure that you’ve always been told to do this when you’re feeling anxious or but the reason this comes up so often is because it can really help to ease feelings of anxiety and calm us down physically. Breathing brings you to the present moment. It’s one of the easiest ways we can connect our body and mind. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds and exhale for 4 seconds. Try it out and see how it goes.
Dance It Off
Movement is an art, so when you’re not feeling your best, put on your favorite song and dance it out. Physically relaxing your body helps in relaxing the mind. Bringing your body and mind on the same level so that they vibe together. Do it alone, do it with a friend or with your pet!
Laugh It Out
Life is tough and stressful but it can also be really funny at times if we change our perception just a little bit . In fact, if you fake laugh long enough it will lead you to real laugh in no time and what’s better than laughing so much by yourself that you feel your abs form? Laughter not only lightens our load mentally but it also induces change in our body with more oxygen intake, stimulating our lungs and heart and also releases endorphins in our body. Laughing is a stress and pain reliever and you know what they say, laughter is the best medicine!
Three may seem like a short list but starting slow helps to build up. Some things work for someone people and other things work for other people which is why we need to see what works for us and remember, things take time so keep trying until you figure it out. Start the month of March with some breathing, dancing and laughter!
