Married: According to the law of state – Only in India

So what happens to the countless live-in couples in India, after the recent ruling of Supreme Court? We won’t comment on whether or not the ruling is justified, but we are wondering what happens to all the celebrity heartthrobs who are currently savoring the fruit of live-in relationships.

Here’s a list of them:

First and foremost, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, who are in the 5th year of seeing each other. Are they legally married now?

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, who plan on tying the knot this year only. Should they move or do they need not worry about the wedding anymore?

Sushant Singh and Ankita Lokhande, yet another couple who plans on getting hitched by the end of 2015 and are currently in a live-in relationship. Should they scrap their wedding guest list?

And what about those who aren’t even certain about marriage yet or those who don’t believe in the institution of marriage?

If Oprah Winfrey lived in India, wonder what she would have said pertaining to this ruling?

“It is well settled that the law presumes in favour of marriage and against concubinage, when a man and woman have cohabited continuously for a long time. However, the presumption can be rebutted by leading unimpeachable evidence. A heavy burden lies on a party who seeks to deprive the relationship of legal origin.” – quotes the bench of Supreme Court India
