Trend Alert: How to wear a corset
Waist trainers became the hot new thing a few years ago when the trend setting Kardashians sisters set Instagram ablaze with pictures of themselves in the uncomfortable shape wear.
But international fashion icons like Gigi Hadid and Rhianna have taught us that corsets aren’t just to cinch in your waist under your clothes they are the fashion accessory du jour to flaunt as belts or even tops and it seems Pakistan is catching up.
Lux girls Mahira Khan and Mawra Hocane were spotted in the peasant chic style at the launch of their television ad.
The glam stars sported bust to hip belts that matched their dresses for a style that looked more sweet than sexy. In fact it reminded us of the ‘before’ look of our favorite Disney princesses. All that’s missing is an apron. But worn properly, corsets are stylish, modern and edgy.
GOLD DIGGER:
We love the metallic waist hugging look that is the perfect highlight to a monochromatic outfit. Take notes ladies, a simple sari and a gold corset is a winning combo.
BUTTON UP:
Why use zips, hooks or buttons to close your top when you can belt it shut. The look creates the illusion of a trim waist and full curves. You know it’s cool if Gigi and Kendall are rocking the look.
DO IT DESI STYLE:
If you think this trend is only for the West than think again. Pakistani fashion blogger Ania Fawad shows us how to style a lace up belt like a queen. Wear it on a kurta or go bold and sport a bustier under your sari instead of a blouse
