The best of Coke Studio rock star fashion
What’s a rock star without rock star style? We’ve been grooving to the tunes and admiring their bold fashion statements. Here are the looks that we loved from this season.
Ali Zafar
Ali Zafar never fails to swoon us with his mesmerizing voice and has been doing so since Coke Studio’s very first season with his songs Janay Na Koi, Chal Dil Meray, Channo and Rangeen which till do date are hummed by all! Ali is most definitely an international style icon and has been rightfully labeled plenty of times as a ‘Rockstar’ clad his leather jacket and combat boots.
However, Edition picked up on Ali’s fresh look in Jan-e-Bahara where he upped his fashion game with a ‘poet’s shirt’ inspired by the historical ‘Romantic Era’ which was an artistic, literary, musical and intellectual movement originated in Europe in the 18th century.
Quratulain Baloch & Farhan Saeed
QB’s husky and melancholic voice has its own unique way of entrancing just about anybody who listens to her! She took the nation by storm as Humsafar’s title track came out which soon became and still is the most popular OST of our current drama industry. May it be her Western vibe or eastern, QB always has her unique fashion game on point.
With this season of Coke Studio and her song Dekh Tera Kya and Latthey Di Chaddar, QB once again is giving us major fashion goals with her ethnic tunic representing the vibrant culture of Northern Pakistan. She’s definitely taken all her listeners into the imaginary world of Pakistani folk tales with her earthy voice and traditional attire.
Farhan Saeed took a risk with his statement look in Dekh Tera Kya and Latthey Di Chaddar; and we couldn’t be happier! The vibrant orange organza shawl and green jacket patterned with dull pink gold was flawlessly completed the playful look.
Farhan Saeed needs no introduction, he’s one of the most recognized names in our industry and rightfully so with his booming career since his JAL days back in 2004. It’s been nothing but sky- high for Farhan’s career since then with his awe-inspiring performances with Coke Studio, phenomenal albums and having his songs swayed to by those across borders, his recent Bollywood song Thodi Der for Half Girlfriend has further rocketed his fan following!
\ Danyal Zafar
Danyal Zafar has rightfully been titled Pakistan’s sensational youth icon! Many are unaware that Danyal has been hustling for his music career since the age of 14 when he had started to professionally record his guitar track’s for his older brother Ali’s Bollywood movie ‘London, Paris, New York’. It’s difficult to pick just one of the two fashion statements Danyal has made so it’s obligatory to mention both!
We’re absolutely loving Danyal’s casual-rockstar look in Julie; the motorbike jacket, ripped jeans and combat boots have us totally vibing with Danyal’s bad- boy look! Now if you’re taking your girl out on a date, Danyal’s Julie look should be your go-to one, but if you’re going to meet your girl’s parents, boys take notes, we suggest you opt for Danyal’s prim and proper, the good boy look in Muntazir where the younger Zafar cleans up real well to bring out his dapper side!
Momina Mustehsan
Momina’s adorable smile and enchanting voice had all Pakistanis gripped when Coke Studio’s Tera Wo Pyaar came out! The double major in Mathematics and Engineering took a leap from recording covers in her dorm room to being featured with Junoon and even debuting in Bollywood with her song Awari from Eik Villian.
What we personally love about Momina is her simplicity and she definitely knows how to make a fashion statement without going over the top! Her style statement in Ghoom Taana in Episide 6 of a casual navy-blue cotton top and bottom paired with antique-chaandi jhumkay gave us some serious bohemian street-style goals!
Nirmal Roy
The young Kinnaird graduate who began her singing career at the tender age of 12 made her Coke Studio debut this season with the uber-talented Ali Hamza with bittersweet folksong Jindjaani.
Her powerful voice impressed us as did her style statement – she stunned in a traditional fuchsia and lime green ensemble accessorized with a teeka and vintage dupatta.
