Fashion lessons learnt at the Hum Style Awards 2018

The Hum Style Awards 2018 took place in Karachi this weekend, and turns out that the style quotient was disappointingly low this time around too. There were your quintessential shaadi-esque outfits, ill-tailored ball gowns and one too many plagiarized designs.

However, every red carpet can serve as a style lesson, and here’s what we took away from this one:

Fashion Dos

Do bedazzle your pant suit for a glamorous, girl-boss look!

If you must wear an elaborate ball gown, DO make sure it’s a head-turner like this one

Remember that a red carpet look is allowed to have fun elements! Ball gowns aren’t your only option

Case in point on how pants and a statement top can work fabulously!

Let’s just say I wasn’t expecting to win model of the year last night. But when your work is your passion and you put in so much effort in to it, for your hard work to then pay off and be recognised, it’s a wonderful feeling. I will cherish this beautiful memory forever. I can’t quite put in to words how emotional I felt last night when my name was called for the award, but I just want to thank ALLAH without who nothing is possible. I’m grateful to all my colleagues in the Fashion Industry who I’ve had the pleasure to work with and will continue to work with in the future. Also a special thanks to all my family and friends, especially my Husband who has been my rock throughout, and last but not least Hum Style Awards for giving me this opportunity by nominating me. Blessed. ? @humstyleawards #hsa Thank you @hussainrehar.official for this cool outfit @yash645 for styling me ??

This is how you can wear a heavily embellished number just right

Lastly, do remember that simplicity can go a long way!

Fashion Don’ts

Don’t wear a plagiarized design and then try to be cheeky about it…

Don’t let your outfit drown you like this one

Dekh tera kya rung ker diya hai? ☺️ @farhan_saeed

Don’t confuse the award function for a shaadi event

Don’t mistake your hanger loop for a strap!
