5 best finds at the Karachi Eat Festival
As we’re recovering from an intense food hangover, post Karachi Eat, we still can’t help ourselves from dreaming of the scrumptious goodies we got to try! Held over the weekend, the great food festival brought with it some truly innovative dishes and a fun opportunity for families to enjoy the cool weather.
Here are our 5 favourite dishes, from everything that we managed to try!
Doritos Chaat from Awesamosas
Adding chaana chaat to a bag of Doritos chips might not seem flavorful to everyone but boy was this delicious! The chaat and it’s various chutneys were the highlight, with the Doritos adding a fun crisp. A bit pricey at 300 per (small) serving, but great in terms of flavour!
Cronut from Hobnob Cafe
While a variety of churros were abundantly available at various food stalls, it was Hobnob’s grand cronut that shone through for us. The perfect flaky pastry, right level of sweetness and not-Nutella chocolate center was perfection!
Malai Boti from Chew Bar
Yes we know it’s a basic dish that’s difficult to get wrong, but the desi in us was immensely satisfied by this melt-in-your-mouth boti!
Khaosuey from Khaosey 2.0
Having tried Khaosuey’s from various joints in Karachi, we think we’ve finally found the real deal! The curry packed the right amount of coconut curry, and the variety of condiments was perfect, as was the serving size. Seriously craving this already!
Mac and Cheese from Mac & Spud
Cheesy goodness with your choice of toppings- a clear winner for us! You could choose a base of mashed potatoes, mac and cheese or Korean corn, and add a variety of sauces and toppings to make a delicious creamy, saucy concoction of your choice. While their chipotle sauce wasn’t up to par, we loved the white mushroom sauce on our macaroni.
