A few points to know and note about this is, it is a natural antibiotic which combats bacteria we don’t even think of, and is actually also anti fungal. It helps fight inflammation, it is loaded with antioxidants and is great for your heart health and controlling and containing sugar levels and it boosts immunity and brain function too and last but not least, it is rich in vitamin D and calcium. Imagine, one spice, numerous qualities!
Here’s a recipe that’s easy to make:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup (120ml) of an unsweetened milk of your choice
1 tsp of turmeric
1 small piece of grated fresh ginger or 1/2 tsp of ginger powder (optional)
1 pinch of ground black pepper
1 tsp of honey or maple syrup (optional)
Crushed pistachios or almonds to top off (optional)
Directions:
To make the milk, simply mix all ingredients in a small saucepan or pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until fragrant and flavorful. Strain the drink through a fine strainer into mugs and top with a pinch of cinnamon or the crushed almonds/pistachios.
Golden milk can also be made in advance and stored in your refrigerator for up to five days. Simply reheat it before drinking.
