Lahori Band 'Takatak' Prove Heavy Metal Is Very Relevant In 2020!
A heavy metal band born in Lahore formed in 2009, was originally a three piece featuring Zain, Yusuf and Misbah.
Like any band around the world, Takatak has of course seen changes in within the group and currently comprises of members, Zain and Luke Azariah on guitars, Yusuf and Daud Ramay on drums, Altamash Server and Ali Suhail on vocals and Isa Najam on bass.
After a few ups and downs in 2012, the band essentially went into hiatus, till they were approached by Lahore Music Meet to headline LMM 2018 for which they wrote two new songs, Voyager and Phantom, that started the writing process for the record.
Fun fact? Keshav Dhar, who had by now mixed Master Beast from the previous EP for the band, was approached to mix the record, play a solo, and generally add synths to the record. He agreed, which was definitely a bucket list moment since the boys grew up on his music, and looked up to him and his work.
For the last two years the band has been working on its newest album which is set to release this year. Excitingly, the band has adapted its approach to changing circumstances.
The album which was recorded at Aleph studios in Karachi will be mixed by Umair Dar who is a musician from Karachi too, and mastered by Ermin Hamidovic who has previously produced for progressive and djent acts such as Pilini and Periphery.
Unlike previous releases, the record will feature vocals. Next month the band will be dropping a music video which, will allegedly feature ‘the heaviest song’ from their catalog... and we can't wait!
