Mushk Kaleem Calls Out Iman Ali for Elitist Comments
One of Pakistan’s most popular supermodels, Iman Ali, who is one of the most prominent names in the industry known for her illustrious beauty and enthralling performance in the acting industry as well; appeared on on Iffat Omar’s talk show, “Say It All” and discussed her experience.
The Bol actress disclosed how her prominence in the industry was not due to her stunning features but her hard work and determination, “I was always working extra hard at everything, even when we were doing shows I wasn’t interested in going out, I always wanted to work; and I always put more effort into my work.”
When the topic of the fashion industry today was brought up, Iffat assessed the question as to whether it is important for a model to be intelligent as well to which Iman Ali responded, “Earlier, back in the day, the models used to be intelligent,” the fashion icon remarked that the industry had gotten luckier now, “I’m not being elitist but come on,” going on to say that now in the current fashion world the models cannot “speak properly” and lack basic general knowledge.
The inflammatory comments caught the attention of fashion model Mushk Kaleem, who took to social media to respond to what she deemed “condescending” by stating Iman Ali was one of her greatest role models and someone she looked up to and admired, “I’m absolutely appalled. As for speaking in English, it’s not our mother tongue, it’s a second language that not everyone can speak properly, and that is okay.” Mushk went on to attesthow getting an education is a privilege in society, and despite the renowned artist’s prior statement, “Even though you say you’re not being elitist, the truth is that you are.”
