Turkish drama 'Diriliş Ertuğrul' a massive hit in Pakistan
The makers of super hit Turkish drama “Diriliş Ertuğrul” have said that the team is overwhelmed by the response in Pakistan to it's Urdu-dubbed version which is currently being aired on national TV on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recommendation.
Riyaad Minty, the head of the TRT team working with Pakistan Television (PTV) to broadcast the show in the country spoke to BBC Urdu about the success of the series in the South Asian nation.
He says, “Ertuğrul has gone viral in Pakistan and its episodes are trending on YouTube in Pakistan every day and there are more than 30 million views and over 600,000 subscribers on Youtube channel.
“However, with growing popularity, these numbers are expected to climb up in the coming days,” he added.
The show "Diriliş Ertuğrul” was originally produced by the state owned media company of Turkey— TRT in collaboration with a private company. Later, the drama was dubbed into various languages and was streamed online around the world and also available with English subtitles on Netflix and YouTube which also played a vital role in its popularity.
The series depicts the pre-history of the Ottoman Empire, chronicling around the plight of the nomadic Kayi Oghuz Turkic tribe, led by Ertugrul, the father of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire.
