Pakistan Issues a Final Warning to Tik Tok Users
The country has had its share of cases linked to Tik Tok 'deaths' over the past few months which have called for the banning of the popular application.
The PTA has warned users of the addictive app over 'obscene' and 'immoral' content which has seemed to stem in the recent months. Similarly, the app 'Bigo' was banned for more or less the same reasons and concerns shared by the common public.
The telecommunications authority has already issued notices to the company, not receiving satisfactory results as yet. After recently banning 'PlayerUnknown's Battleground' (PUBG) and Bigo, the PTA has set its sights on suspending Tik Tok after numeous complaints and content complications.
"In exercise of its powers under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), the PTA has decided to immediately block Bigo and issue a final warning to TikTok to put in place a comprehensive mechanism to control obscenity, vulgarity, and immorality through its social media application,"
With apps such as PUBG and Bigo already not making the cut, social media has deemed such games 'detrimental to mental health' and 'addictive'. Tik Tok may be soon to follow if the response rate continues to be unsatisfactory.
