Which Churail Are You? Relate To Your Favorite Churails!
Asim Abbasi’s Churails is finally out on Zee 5 and has raised the bar of drama production in Pakistan. It has not just surprised the Saas Bahu saga followers but also made the audience realize that everything out there is a story. Yes, there was a Saas in the web series but she didn’t matter and that’s exactly how things should be in the lives of strong women.
Yes, they preach smoking, they might drink, indulge in drugs or even use foul language but that’s because they have control over their lives and answer to know one. You might not want to follow them in that regard but yes, you can relate to them for each one of them has a backstory. Each one of them is from us … and it’s time that you decide which Churail are you. Read on:
Sara (Sarwat Gilani Mirza)
Backstory: A lawyer by qualification, Sara puts all aside to transform into the perfect wife of a budding politician. She has three kids but when she realizes that her husband cheated on her on multiple occasions, she takes matters into her own hands. Not only does she come up with a Boutique-turned-detective-agency, she hires women who no one else would dare to employ. She manages to confront her husband of his wrong doings, make him pay for the business and acts like a mentor to the women who work for her. Except a few!
Relatability: If you are a qualified woman who has been made to work for home than work from it, then you can find yourself in Sara. She left her work to raise kids but that doesn’t mean that she can’t make a comeback, because she did and excelled in it too. Having a cheating husband is always something not many spouses can deal with but Sara did. She goes to her kids’ school for Parent Teacher Meetings but also travels to other countries to do some sleuthing; she stands up to her bossy Mother In Law but plays mother to those who are loyal to her. At times she is indecisive but hey, aren’t we all at times?
Jugnu Chaudhry (Yasra Rizvi)
Backstory: Some term her a notorious socialite, some believe she is a loser but the fact of the matter is, Jugnu Chaudhry is the best wedding planner in the business, until a downed chandelier killed her credibility. With nothing to lose, she joins hands with Sara to open the Boutique which is a front for a Detective Agency, recruits her maid as one of the key people and then acts as if she knows everything, all the time. Her failed marriage to an African American, her confidence regarding her abilities and her uncouth language is her arsenal, and although she quits drinking at the end of the series, she remains addicted to one thing or the other during the course of the series.
Relatability: People who use foul language are usually the ones who don’t keep anything in their heart. If you are someone who fits the bill, then you can relate with Jugnu. She isn’t married and doesn’t care; her father left her a huge house and even though he is in prison for corruption charges, she is living her own life without worrying what people would say about her. She refers to others in nicknames, shows affection when it’s the right time and knows how to plan things, because that’s her job. If you are like her then watch Churails and find out how Jugnu fares!
Batool (Nimra Bucha)
Backstory: She murdered her husband when he tried to rape her daughter; she became surrogate mother to one of the gang members after her parents tried to beat her up; and she was on the lookout for her own daughter who was adopted as soon as she was incarcerated. That’s Batool for you who after spending time with criminals in prison, became an expert at everything practical. She could control her emotions but was afraid of using an iron, since she killed her husband with it. Furthermore, the inspector who was assigned to their case also fell in love with her, thus making her one of the two Churails to have a happy ending.
Relatability: You might not have spent time in prison but if you have all the ‘ingredients’ of a murderer, then you would be able to relate to Batool. Not only is she able to take decisions that might have dire consequences but also stand by her decisions, even if it means getting slapped or fired (from her job). She thinks after she has completed the act, not before and doesn’t care what others have to say if the end result saves her loved ones. She believes that doing the right thing is the only option and if that reminds you of someone, then you are Batool!
Zubeida (Mehr Bano)
Backstory: She is the youngest of the Churails and is treated as a baby until the going gets tough. She loves boxing, wants to compete at the highest level, and make her parents proud but only if they allow her to do all that. Her father is an old man who believes hitting his daughter is the best policy to keep her in control, and when she runs away thanks to Batool, he uses his wife to call their daughter back so that they could get her married to a boy of their choice. It is because of her escape from her house that Churails became a reality otherwise these women would have been discussing their issues and doing nothing.
Relatability: If your parents have opposed something you have loved then you are Zubeida; if you have reached out to friends for help and received it, then you are Zubeida. If your life revolves around yourself and you don’t want that equation to change, then you are Zubeida. If you are a risk taker, and want to take a giant leap without bothering about the landing, then you are Zubeida. If you can remind your bosses of their initial offer and get away with it, help those who need help, and discover yourself in the process, then you are Zubeida.
