Pakistan Cricket Board Appoints First Female Director
Alia Zafar, a human resources executive, has been appointed the role of an independent female director of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Zafar has been a part of the corporate world for years and has been elected along with four other members, including economist Asim Jawad, financial executive and former cricketer, Jawed Kureishi, and corporate businessman Arif Saeed.
The human resources executive has been appointed for a period of 2 years currently, in accordance with the PCB's new constitution, which instructs that there must be one woman among four of the selected members.
PCB Chairman, Ehsan Mani, welcomed the members earlier this week with a statement,
“I welcome the newly-appointed independent members, especially Ms Alia Zafar, the first female independent member, which is a giant step forward in enhancing the PCB’s governance structure,”
Fans and cricket lovers alike have expressed their commemorations on social media, congratulating Alia Zafar and Ehsan Mani on their future endeavours.
