Citizens Over 65 to Register for COVID-19 Vaccine
The Minister for Planning and Development and the Chairman of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) for COVID-19 in Pakistan, Asad Umar has announced the arrival of the vaccine and its registration process.
With the vaccine trials in Pakistan commencing in February, the British High Commission has disclosed that Pakistan is to receive 17 million doses by April.
“Through the COVAX facility, Pakistan will take the delivery of 17 million doses of the UK-developed Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine shortly with the first seven million expected before April,”
The Federal Minister stated that the vaccinations will begin in March, with Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Yasmin Rashid sharing the information to Dawn TV, that Pakistan will be using the vaccine doses it gets via the global 'COVAX' platform to vaccinate citizens over the age of 65.
Currently there has been a drop in the number of active coronavirus cases in the country, with the number dropping to 25,635.
