Oscars 2021: The Winners
The biggest award show of the year, the Oscars 2021, were a socially distanced affair. More on that later, first the winners.
Best Picture: Nomadland - the story of a woman in her 60s who takes a trip across the American West after losing everything in the Great Recession.
Best Director: Chloe Zhao for Nomadland, making her the first woman of 'color' to win the trophy for Best Director.
Best Actress: Francis McDormand for Nomadland.
Best Actor: Anthony Hopkins for The Father. Hopkins was up against the late Chadwick Boseman and there was a bit of an uproar about the Oscar not going to the late Boseman. But we had our heart set on our every own Riz Ahmed. Riz and his wife Fatima Farheen Mirza did steal the show though.
Best Supporting Actor: Daniel Kaluuya for Judas and the Black Messiah - the biographical drama about the betrayal of Fred Hampton, the Chairman of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party in the late 1950s.
Best Supporting Actress: Yuh-Jung Youn for Minari. Minari is the story of a Korean immigrant family who moves to rural Arkansas.
