The Big Winners at the Billboard Music Awards
The Billboard Music awards just took place and we can’t wait to tell you who the big winners were!
The Weeknd was left heartbroken after being snubbed by the Grammy awards and rightfully so, considering he tirelessly released one hit after the other.The artist bagged a total of ten awards at the event including top artist. He also won three awards for his song “Blinding Lights” and one for his album “After Hours”.
Pop Smoke had a successful night taking home five awards including one for top new artist. Taylor Swift grabbed two awards for herself – top female artist and top billboard 200 artist. The K-Pop band BTS also enjoyed an eventful night taking with them four awards including ones for Top duo/group and even top selling song!
For years now Drake has been speaking to us through his music, giving us songs we’ll keep close forever. Time and time again he has proved to be one of the greatest artists of his generation. He walked into the night with a previous win of a total of 27 BMAs and added one more for top streaming song. Even more impressive than that, the artist was honored as Artist of the Decade by Billboard.
Pink was the recipient of the Icon Award. Top R&B female artist was secured by Doja Cat and top female rap artist by Megan Thee Stallion.
Machine Gun Kelley won the award for top rock artist. Bad Bunny received four awards on the night including one for top Latin artist. Lady Gaga managed beat out Kygo, The Chainsmokers and Marshmello to win the top dance/electronic artist award. She also won the award for top dance/electronic album. Kanye West won a total of two awards, one being for top Gospel artist. The accolade for top streaming song was given to DaBaby for “ROCKSTAR”.
And for the fifth year ins a row, BTS received the award for Top Social Artist!
