10 Great Shows and Movies 2021 Gave Us

While I’m sure most of us are excited to wash our hands off 2021, a rather apocalyptic year in many ways, the following shows have definitely played a major role in making it significantly more bearable. Let’s look back at some of the shows, movies and documentaries which created the most buzz over the past year.

1. My Unorthodox Life – released 14th uly 2021

This is not just a reality show full of glitz and glam, but also blows you away with empowering women and inspiring life stories. The show also tackles fundamentalism in an unexpected way while entertaining the audience with French castles, glamorous fashion shows, and more.

Parizaad – released 20th July 2021

A refreshing break from the age-old saas-bahu tropes, Parizaad follows a very different trajectory. Full of emotions and intrigue, every episode of Parizaad leaves its audience with a lot to think about.

He’s All That – released 25th August 2021

Tiktok influencer, Addison Rae, sent the world into a spiral with her acting debut in the sequel of the classic film, ‘She’s All That’. Even though many memes were made, it’s a fun watch with karaoke renditions of Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ and good old chick flick glow-ups!

Squid Game – released 17th September 2021

Arguably the most impactful and iconic series brought to the world by 2021, Squid Games inspired many Halloween costumes, Tiktok trends, and memes with its rather dark subject-matter and its haunting cinematography.

Maid – released 1st October 2021

This is a touching story of a single mom running from abuse and poverty while also trying to build a safe and happy home for her daughter.

Khel Khel Mein – released 19th November 2021

Although I’m not sure about how politically correct it is, its vibrant and energetic cast allow you to kick back with some popcorn for a chill night in.

14 Peaks: Nothing is Impossible – released 29th November 2021

If you’re tired of the same old love stories and melodrama, check out this thrilling documentary of Nepal’s legendary mountaineer, Nimsdai Purja who embarks on a challenge to climb 14 of the world’s tallest mountains in a mere 6 months.

Don’t Look Up – released 5th December 2021

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep all band together to show the world and its leaders how our ignorance of climate change is about to destroy us all.

Spiderman: No Way Home – released 17th December 2021

Let’s just say, people aren’t getting over this one anytime soon.

Emily in Paris (S2) – released 22nd December 2021

Released just in time for us to snuggle in our beds with ice cream, Season 2 gave us more drama and Parisian views, what’s not to love?
