No More Quarantine For Passengers at Pakistani Airports

It has now been reported that there will be no quarantine measures taken for inbound passengers upon arrival at Pakistani aiports.

Edition Pakistan · 4 June 2020

As the Federal Government has announced the end of lock-down, certain measures and safety precautions have been relaxed, or discontinued.

Although the implementation of wearing masks outdoors is advised, and mandatory, the airports are not following the diligent tactics they were before when ensuring quarantine upon arrival to prevent any minute possibility of Covid-19 spreading.

Since the mandatory quarantine at the airports has been waived off, passengers are advised to go home into self-isolation rather than waiting for the test results, which seem null and void at the moment as it will make no difference to get the test now that the passengers are being sent home. Flights coming from the UAE and other countries with stranded overseas Pakistanis will go straight home without any waiting period, into their own self-isolation.

Dr. Moeed Yusuf, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning has announced on his social media platform that by June 10th the Government plans to bring back 20,000 overseas Pakistanis by expediting the testing and quarantining period, which will allow more passengers to return to the country.

Dr. Yusuf has also stated that said inbound passengers will be added to a “Track and Trace System” which will allow the Provincial Government to stay updated on the tests conducted and ensure health measures can be efficiently followed.

Pakistan will be conducting 27 special flights between June 1st and June 10th to different cities in the country. Since the start of repatriation flights, 13,000 passengers have returned to Pakistan.
