Edition Pakistan · 18 September 2021

Pakistan’s most eminent nuclear physicist has landed himself in controversy once again. But this time, there seems to be little support for his social commentary.

The scientist found himself saying something to the effect that young women in university who wear burkas and niqab are not ‘normal.’

Journalist Mehr Tarar was taken aback by the comments.

But then there were some counter arguments.

But perhaps the most impactful reaction came from Samaa TV anchor, Kiran Naz, who put on a niqab on live television to illustrate that women can do any job, regardless of what they choose to wear.
