In design terms a “positive space” refers to the main focus of the picture while negative space refers to the background. If you want a more fruitful and productive environment at home it would be a top priority to get the surroundings in check so the healing can begin and seep through the negative space.

When you work from home you slip out of routine, often finding it challenging to cope or go on about your day as compared to when there was a schedule. Spending abundant time at home during this period does come with its set of cons but a pro would be having the option in your corner to create an area for yourself to flourish mentally and physically in. Monotony is no foe of depression and lethargy, fatigue, dreariness along with lack of motivation are all waging the same war. Having a place for yourself where you feel safe, secure and lighter is of the utmost importance!

There are several different ways to cheer up your soul by simply creating a positive space for yourself, wherever you choose to at home, these include:

Get rid of the clutter!

Having a hoard of objects lying around such as clothes, papers, make- up, accessories, food items, rappers or any type of clutter quite frankly clouds your mind mentally as well. Not solely for the aesthetic effect (although it helps) but for a sound mind and better judgement call. Freeing your new space from clutter lying around symbolises a cleanse and detox, the start of something new and fresh for you to instil any association with this new place in your old home. The process of cleaning itself has proven time and time again to be cathartic, releasing pent-up, anxious energy. Remove past limitations or barriers of negativity. As human beings we often find ourselves unwilling to let go of things because at one time it’s something we wanted; you can always find a place to keep things or items you are unwilling to part with but out of your space. In life, balance is key, having the balance of letting go and holding on is vital to living a healthy life unburdened by troubles from the past. By clearing any old, bad energy or reminders you are also bringing your mental state of mind a sense of clarity and resolution by not letting the past hold you back. Once we put our minds to the task, we achieve our goals and the
process begins!

Write down your goals and ambitions.

‘What you seek is seeking you’ applies to your life when you want to achieve your dreams. When we write down our goals, beliefs and positive affirmations, they start to seep into our minds and get integrated into our thoughts, giving us a different perspective perhaps. Your mindset determines your outlook. When you have your dreams and motivations written in front of you this influences your thought process and helps encourage enthusiasm and hope, filling the air with great energy, and as they say, frequencies and vibrations attract similar kin.

Fill your space with physical objects which bring you peace of mind.

For example, if you have things lying around at home, perhaps sketches of yours, poetry, a salt lamp, scented
candles, flowers, it can be anything which you find aesthetically appealing. It may seem like a menial activity to fill your space with objects that bring you joy or satiate your view but this not only trademarks it but you end up finding a place for things at home which you had long forgotten about or seemed out of place -tried and tested! This feeling of even being able to be in control of and utilise your own space brings a sense of relief and
accomplishment. It is always important to acknowledge your good qualities. After physically creating this space it’s crucial that it be protected, be it from negative thoughts, comments, energy or frequencies. In your space, those around or nearby should be made aware of the boundaries protecting your space. This area is a visual representation of your own “happy place” as we refer to when discussing mentally, safeguarding it and keeping your energy safe and light is the main focus, having your own great energy fluctuating without interruptions provides a sense of security and stability. When we have our own environment created at home, we find it relaxing our strain ambiguated by different frequencies or energy; this place is something we make for ourselves, present with what we choose to include. Not only does this get the creative juices flowing but we can actually start feeling better to take up a project and use things that are around us which we may not even be paying attention to.

Putting in time and effort in making these things happen has a profound impact as it is time invested in ourselves which leads to stellar results and efficient work production -maybe a different outlook on “Working From Home” – as we find it might be a little easier to deal with the murky feelings when you start enjoying your company!
