The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markel are expecting their second child. The announcement was made on Valentine’s Day.
“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” a spokesperson for the couple said.A Buckingham Palace spokesman said that the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the rest of the Royal Family “are delighted and wish them well”.
The announcement came with a black-and-white picture, taken remotely by their friend and photographer Misan Harriman. A due date has not been announced, nor has the sex of the baby been revealed. The couple seem to be keeping a low profile on the sex and will potentially keep it as a surprise for when the time comes. The child will be eight in line for the British throne. Interestingly, Princess Diana’s announcement of her pregnancy also came on Valentine’s Day in 1984.
In July 2020, Meghan Markle outlined her experience of a miscarriage in the New York Times.”Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few. The Duke and Duchess of Sussexes who are now living in California have agreed to do an interview with Oprah Winfrey. They did not reveal why they quit as senior working royals about a year ago and it is quite likely that this may be discussed in the interview.
