With CoVID19 cases on the rise once again, there seems to be a simmering sense of is-there-going-to-be-another-lockdown.
It may not be a bad idea to remain at home or at least avoid indoor commercial spaces. Schools in the North of the country have gone on an extended spring break while Sindh is still ‘thinking about it.’ Hence, most of my own picks for the weeken involve staying at home.
Eat
I tried two home based, healthy eating options this past week and safe to say that I am fairly happy with both of them.
Food to Fit by Hadia
This home based kitchen does calorie counted meals for lunch and dinner. I tried their Pan Asian Rice Noodles (500 calories )and Crispy Chicken with Salsa and Vegetables (420 calories). You can sign up for a single meal per week and upto two meals for a month – with packages ranging from Rs 2,500 to Rs 17,000.
My verdict: The spice level on the noodles was a bit high for me but I imagine it works for most people. I generally have a lower tolerance for spicy food. They also could have been more ‘Pan Asian’ – I missed the soya sauce, umami-ness of it all. Nonetheless, the noodles were a satisfying lunch meal. I quite liked the kick of the Crispy Chicken with Salsa and Vegetables. The steamed vegetables took the edge of the spicy chicken and salsa.
Love at First Bite
Mainly a dessert outfit, they also carry some savories as well. I tried their Keto Mocha Pudding, Greek Yogurt (Coconut and Mocha) and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies.
These are rich, decadent desserts and yet healthy. And by rich, I mean RICH. That Keto Mocha Pudding can only be safely consumed two spoonfuls at a time, which is great because a small amount goes a long way in keeping your cravings at bay. The yogurts were not overly sweet and could be nice to create your own parfait with. I would consider keeping the oatmeal cookies as an emergency meal because they are delicious and fulfilling AND only sweetened with agave.
My Verdict: Good for stocking in the fridge when those sugar cravings hit.

Sindh Livestock Expo 2021
If you are feeling a bit adventurous, drive up to Hatri Bypass, Hyderabad for the second annual Sindh Livestock Expo 2021. It is the largest exhibit of livestock and fisheries in the country with lots of local and exotic animal breeds on display. There’s even artificial ponds for marine and fresh water fish. We hear there will also be horse and camel races. The Expo will run from 13th to 15th March and is open to the public. Pretty sure it will be a novel experience for both adults and kids. However, do follow SOPs, carry extra masks and sanitisers and HYDRATE!

Ayesha O Beauty
The original ‘Khoobsurat’ – Ayesha Omar – has launched her beauty product range, in collaboration with Hemani Herbals. It is an all natural range inspired by own journey with naturopathy. The products I have tried so far include:
Neem Foaming Face Wash – retails for Rs 1,150. Left my skin feeling cleaning and supple.
Face Food Face Cream – retails for Rs 2,650. A pea sized amount is good enough for the whole face. It is a day cream and has some built in sun protection
Night Mode Night Serum – retails for Rs 2,290. I love the gentle Lavender in the serum. Three days into usage, I have no complaints so far.
