‘Is there anything Mahira Khan can’t do?‘ is a question we ask ourselves on a daily basis here at Edition.

After all, the actress has shown that she’s pretty skilled when it comes to hosting, taking care of her son and smashing the patriarchy all while stealing scenes in hit films such as Verna and Bin Roye. Now, the Humsafar girl is out to prove that she’s just as talented on the dance floor as she is in front of the camera in an epic dance battle with actor Shaheryar Munawar.

Her first conquest? Zaalima.

In a Coca Cola spot featuring the two stars together Mahira Khan archly coos into her phone “Zaalima, Coca Cola pilaa de.” She is reminiscent of the original song by Noor Jehan with her sweet yet saucy charms.

Mahira plays a mayun bride and Shaheryar the eager to please groom who sneaks into the festivities to fulfill his lady love’s craving for a cold drink. For some inexplicable reason Shaheryar Munawar seems to think wearing a fedora hat grants him the powers of invisibility. When he is invariably discovered, they all break into coordinated dance.

The rich marigolds, thumping dhinak tin and the old world charm of desi wedding traditions are the foundations of the #ShadiOfTheYear which is just starting. Are you on the larki waleys side or the larkey walas side?  Choose your team because dance practices are coming up!
